The mobile phone needs a ‘top up’ to make a call .The camera needs a battery to come alive. The human heart, the human person, needs a top up too, to activate ‘what’s inside ‘...what is called God’s Spirit , God’s temple .Jesus story to-day says that we are God’s temples, that His Spirit lives in us and in others . People sometimes say that they say a prayer and are spiritual, but don’t go to Mass or Church. It is true that God’s Presence is not confined to Mass or Church. God is present in beauty, music, joy, art, friendship, science, nature, being just and fair, doing a job well, in various religions, in helping another, in being sincere even with no religion .So why go to Mass .It is how we see it. Mass is ‘top up’, recharge
for the spirit, the heart temple. Mass is vital food that we need for
the journey of life. Life is not a straight path. Often it seems
unfair and heartless. Life is never perfect. Jesus invites ‘Come
take and eat’. Mass is also God’s own encouraging ‘word’, that
despite our own failings and disappointments God is forever faithful,
The Loving Father who bends over us with caring compassion, that we
see in the Face of Jesus Christ. |
