Christ King C.

Celtic Crosses catch my imagination in the wonder of their presentation of Gods Love Story.. Masterpieces, chiselled in rock ,they express the faith of celtic people ,a thousand years ago.Christ, on the Cross ,is often ‘dressed’in royal clothes or priestly vestment, suggesting achievement and new life over death. The eyes of Christ are wide open in death ,to remind us of the all seeing eyes of God, and His providential care through death and life .The Clonmacnoise Cross of Scriptures, shows The Right Hand of God hidden under the arm of the Cross.I wonder what the sculptor was thinking as he chiselled The Hand, with painstaking creativity.I imagine that his mind and heart ,are seeped in the love stories of The Bible. The Hand of God ,like a silver thread ,links together all Gods wonders ,for His people. We are fashioned in the womb ,by the Hand of God.His Hand holds us fast. His Hand held Peter in the water .His Hand touched lovingly the little ones, the poor, the sick, the outcasts.Your Right Hand raised me, says the Psalm. The Kingship of Christ means that God cares for us with providential concern, and through His Spirit, stretches out to us every moment of life, while we await our Final Embrace.
