I don’t think that a politician would get many votes, if he or she said, that there was no need to worry about food, clothes, caring, job, or environment. That would be out of touch, and not for real language. The Good Lord, was always lavish in His caring for humanity. The sick and handicapped, were a priority. With food, wine and feasting, He rejoiced with humanity. The farmer, fisherman, tax collector, prisoner, housewife, children, flowers, birds of the air, were His concern. Yet, in todays Story, He is saying, that there is a greater Reality, than all The Ads tell us. That Reality is Life Itself. Life, is every beat of the pulse, every breath of the heart. Many, call it simply.. ’’Being ‘’, and explain that ‘human ‘is the address I have, the clothes I wear, the job I do, the enjoyment I experience, but ‘being is the person, the reality, the life behind, all the forms and actions of my living... keeping all together. Jesus says.. Can anyone, for all their worrying, add a cubit to life. He encourages us to live in ‘The Now‘ of life, to do the best we can for the day we have. Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow hasn’t happened. So now is the hour. Life is about balance. We need help, and encouragement, to balance our human scales. Liam Hickey, St.Ciarans, Hartstown, Dublin 15. |
