6th Sunday C

The Earthquake in Haiti grabbed world wide attention. Deep down, we all wonder ...Why do bad things happen to good people. Jesus did not answer that question and neither can we. What Jesus did do, was to get into our human journey and situations, and showed us ways of loving. God is The Mystery of Love.

There can be no love without choice, and trial and error. Every married couple knows that. We can get hints that there is A Loving and Compassionate Father when we see the extraordinary generosity of people, to help, to rescue, to comfort, to care for others, or the desires we all have for beauty, joy, companionship. There is someone Greater out there in the wonder of Being.

There was a young girl in line, for the gas chamber of death at Auschwitz. She was shivering with cold, and crying. The German guard took off his cloak, wrapped it around her and then entered the chamber of death with her. Who or What inspires such human generosity in giving for others. Somehow, hidden behind the curtain of life, is the call of The Compassionate Father, waiting with welcoming arms for us in The Heavenly Banquet of friendship and love.
