Jesus liked friends. Lazarus was his friend, and Jesus loved his sisters Martha and Mary too.. Martha was good at housekeeping. Mary was good at listening that consoled people. Lazarus died and four days later Jesus called to their house. With friends, they went to the place where Lazarus was buried. Jesus called his name ....Lazarus come forth, and Lazarus came back to life. Jesus explained that death is like sleeping, and God Our Father calls our name, and we pass into a New World, with new breath. Sister Romain used to say to children that Heaven is like a Halloween Party that goes on for ever. St.Paul says that neither eye, ear, or imagination can surpass the wonder of God. Michael Mayne, a distinguished Anglican Priest, in his classic book, Sunrise of Wonder, tells that when we go to Heaven God will only ask one question ....Did you enjoy my creation? The great wonder of creation is the human person, female, and male. Do I express enough joy to people. Do I experience joy. How many times did I say thanks to –day, give a smile or hug, a compliment, a clap on the back, or sit with a pint or a cup of coffee, and just marvel at the wonder of the world, and creation all around. Smells of Heaven do perfume the everyday air. Liam Hickey, St.Ciarans, Hartstown, Dublin 15. |
