To days Jesus Story is a world classic, worth reading and re-reading. There is so much to be seen. Jesus is saying that if we think we know all, we are blind. I like the way Jesus involves the blind man in his own cure, and there is humour in the way the blind man baffles the religious critics with sheer honesty and humanity. They can’t take the light. The eye of the heart is closed. I like the way Jesus uses messy clay and a spit, as channels of God’s grace and blessing. Is not our own messy humanity graced with blessing, beyond all we can imagine. We tend to separate the secular and religious. In the eye of God, matter is married to Spirit. Blessed are You Lord, God of all creation, and Heaven and earth are full of Your Glory, we pray at Mass. All is given. All is gift from The Lender. It seems that God loves our mix, but we don’t like our own rawness. Lord, that I may see is the prayer that rings out in Lourdes. It is the prayer of everyday, and of every aspect of life.
