3 Sunday  Advent  B.

Angels in my Hair is the story of Lorna Byrne, a Dublin woman, and mystic, who hears the voices of angels and talks with them, in the everyday rough and tumble and living of life. Her Christmas story is heart touching.

Her husband Joe has lost his job through ill health. She has pawned her wedding ring to survive. The charities don’t believe her story. It is Christmas time, with a husband and children to care for, and they are in utter poverty. Her Angel Hosos tells her to try not to worry, because Angels are always prompting people to help, but people don’t listen to the ordinary hints, and often think that they are making fools of themselves to help, but to help, in even the smallest way, is of God.

With Christmas Day dinner only a day away, they had not the price of a packet of biscuits, much less a turkey. They woke Christmas morning for Mass, to find a white envelope in the hall way. It contained forty pounds. There was no note or name of donor. There were tears of joy. This was like a fortune. They wrote down a list of the things they could buy, lemonade, biscuits, sweets, and a chicken, hopefully. At Mass she prayed for a cooked chicken. Only one shop in Maynooth was open on Christmas morning...Barrys. Luckily, there was a spare chicken. Later she thanked Mrs. Barry’s Angel when she realised that the chicken was stuffed as well.

The great blessing this family had was not money, nor even good health, but a great and loving relationship with each other and with God. There are worries to day about money and jobs .There is always hope. If we have a friend, can breathe the air, and feel loved by God, A Loving Father, we are millionaires.
