I met three school girls. I
said ‘Hello’. They greeted brightly. Then one girl asked.. Who are
you? I said that it is a blessing when we look at people. Then I
wondered is there a difference between ‘looking ‘and ‘seeing’.
Jesus uses the word
‘seeing’ a lot to teach His Message. Come and See He says today,
and He links it with ‘Living’. In His first sermon He says ‘I
have come to give new sight to the blind’.
I hadn’t noticed the word
‘new’ before...does that mean insight, more than physical sight.
He said to the judgemental Pharisee... Do you see this woman? The
Pharisee had looked alright, but did not see the inner beauty, the
struggle and generosity of the person. Jesus tells about the man who
is robbed and wounded by the roadside. Two looked at the man and
passed bye. Then a third, a stranger, SAW the troubled man, went to
help him, brought him to a rest place and paid for his keep.
Lorna Byrne in her talk with
The Angels says ...It is how we see. Samuel looked today, but didn’t
see until later. Maybe it is true that we look with our eyes, but we
see with the heart. Jesus, with His Spirit helps to see with our
hearts. May our world leaders see with the heart.. May The Spirit give
us good intentions, and the strength to fulfill them this day.
