What
does God promise to those who have died .,,,a party, a feast, a
birthday of joy, happiness and fullness of life. Those are Gods
words to us to day ...for all peoples a banquet, every tear will be
wiped away. To comment or elaborate on Gods glorious words of hope
is almost a distraction. The promise is further complimented with
Gods own song....The Lord is my Shepherd, which echoes in our hearts
from womb to tomb .I stop now after two lines....Fresh and green are
the pastures where He gives me repose, and near restful waters He
leads me to revive my drooping spirit .I think of Clonmacnoise and
St.Ciarans monastery, which gives a taste and smell of both. In
Jesus Story today the people invited to the Wedding don’t show up.
But this only prompts a greater generosity by The Host ....bring in
the poor ,the lame, the crippled, the prostitutes, the tax
collectors, into the Banquet. It reminds me of the Street Artist
.The King asked him to do a painting of The Last Supper ...Jesus and
the Twelve...for his
palace. When the King saw the masterpiece he was angry, because
around the Last Supper Table the artist painted in a lot of shabby
and shady characters, women and men, misfits, tax collectors,
prostitutes. all souls and all sorts ...even a cat and dog .The King
shouted at the artist .Of what is this a painting.,’ Me’ Lord
,the artist said.’ That is a painting of God Our Father who makes
the sun shine on the good and the not good, and that is my
understanding of The Last Supper.
