Isn’t
life full of ‘yes’ and ‘nos’. I don’t know whether I’d
like to be called a ‘Yes person’ or a ‘No person’. I think
that we are both...like the battery. It carries plus and minus
together to give light .The challenge is getting the balance .In
family life, indeed, in all life, it is not easy .Saying No to
certain drugs means saying Yes to life .The footballer, the athlete
has to say no to some pleasures to be fit .The fashion model has to
watch her diet to be a stylist. The married person has to say No ,at
times ,in order to be loyal. We have to say No to the extra drink
,to be on top of the job next day .The student has to say No to too
many late nights, in order to get
Yes in the exam .Even the babies now, are threatened with
obesity ...someone has to say ‘No’ .The Commandments seem to be
Nos.....Thou shalt not,
but underneath they are ..Words of Life ,and all are found in loving
God and neighbour. I like the story of mother or father saying to
the little child...I’ll murder you if you run out on that busy
street again. The threat is a life line of love .In the end it is
better to praise ...reward the good ,than to condemn the naughty
.The balance is to praise God for Goodness, and the goodness in
oneself and in others. All three are celebrated in Mass .
