20 Sunday C

20 Sunday C. – Assumption of Mary

I always liked blessing Rose Petals on Marys celebration day.The old,old story tells that when friends went to visit Marys grave, they only found roses.Perhaps also the words of the Irish song .echoes for me ,her loveliness..She was lovely and fair like the Rose of Summer, yet it was not her beauty alone that won me ...it was the truth in her eyes ever shining, that made me love Mary ...The Rose of our being. Her beauty makes ripples of joy in the heart.Hers is a beauty that made sure that there was plenty of wine for the wedding guests.Hers is a beauty that stood by the Cross until the end, through immense grief and tragedy.Hers was a listening heart ,that blessed our world,The Queen of Apostles that encouraged the young church.

A Rose petal is beautiful. It is one of a family. It scents the world with colour, joy, and tenderness. Each petal is different .In God’s eye we are His petals, specially chosen, unique, with the capacity to give joy and colour to our world.I often don’t know what to say when I am praying,so I light candles ,and pass all on ,to Mary, who always prays for us.I also like to carry a Rosary ring .I’m reminded that my five fingers are a built in Rosary, for all times, all places, all situations, with half a Hail Mary ... Pray for me NOW,and at the hour of death. The fingers too can catch The various Mysteries of love, that tell the whole Christan Story.Pope John Paul called The Rosary, a circle of Love ,a life line to Heaven. He knew that The Rosary sustained people through dark days of oppression and persecution .
