1 Sunday  Advent  B.

The children in school taught me a song for Christmas. Here it is. ‘Come Lord Jesus, Come Lord Jesus, Come Lord Jesus, Come and be born in our hearts. Come O Prince of Peace, Come O Prince of Peace, Come and be born in our hearts...We know that Jesus has come already long ago, but Now He comes to us, and is with us, through His Spirit. How Jesus is born in our hearts, through His Spirit is a loving mystery. Maybe it is like breathing. Breath is there for us all the time, but we don’t notice it. Is that why Jesus asks us to day to stay awake, to be aware?

The children made up a Litany of prayers telling how Jesus is born in our hearts today .I remember some of the prayers.

When we help at home, Jesus is born in our hearts. When we make someone happy, Jesus is born in our hearts. When we say ‘Thanks and Sorry’ Jesus is born in our hearts. When Mary listened, Jesus was born in her heart. When Mary got ready clothes for the new baby, Jesus was born in her heart. When she had to pack in a hurry to go a long journey, Jesus was born in her heart. When she showed the new baby to visitors, Jesus was born in her heart .When Joseph protected Mary Jesus was born in his heart.

Jesus Spirit embraces all that is human and ordinary in life ...when we work with care and honesty, when we oblige at work, when we drive a car with thought and courtesy, when we visit people, when we think of the sick and bereaved, when we give joy or entertain, when we stop to admire someone, or something .It might be a style. It might be a leaf on the ground, a little bird in flight. Stop..Give a few seconds attention .It is a good idea for Christmas..
