I was excited with admiration, reading the news story of a Helicopter Rescue operation ,of four women climbers. They got into difficulties in cliffs over looking the Atlantic. A Sligo airlift team went to their rescue, in very treacherous weather conditions. A  wenchman, descends on a ladder, from the hovering helicopter, in co ordination with the wenchoperator, and the pilot. When the wenchman reaches the person, he  has to strap his body to each person, to lift them to safety.

I sometimes, think of Jesus Christ, embracing our humanity, in some way, like that. He attaches Himself to our weak, broken, sinner humanness. The most gracious sign of that is Holy Communion. To days Jesus story, says that He took the loaves and gave them out to all, with extravagant generosity, and He included helpers, who were readily available .

Holy Communion, is food for the weak ,in the journey of life. It is not reward for the good, but blessing from God Who is Good. It is Gods Love that helps us to be what is best for us. It is because of God’s Forever Love that we respond, by loving .

Jesus says ‘Take and eat’. He did not say take and understand. The Mystery of Love can often be felt, but not explained .
