I noticed him ,a frail, lonely looking man, with a limp, and a walking aid.He carried a bag with bits of shopping ,from the Supermarket. He paid a visit to the Pub on his way home.He stopped to catch his breath. A man passing bye asked him ...if he was alright. He said ‘’I’m bunched ...in colourful language....I can’t sleep without a cigarette, and I have no way to get some.’’The man brought him to the nearby shop, and bought him some cigarettes. The last words I heard were ...’’God bless you,and by the way,if you have time to night, listen to my book of the week ,on RTE radio. Many is the flower that blushes unseen, but are seen,in the eyes of God.

The lawyer in to days Jesus Story had all the right words about religion, and neighbours, but Jesus tells about ,how to Be a neighbour, rather than know about neighbour.Knowledge is one thing, having heart and compassion is another.People sometimes tell about being discouraged about ‘going to Mass’,and at the same time, tell about their caring for family, and elderly, doing work conscientiously. They live the spirit of Mass.Good Pope John 23rd.was fond of saying that the True Religion was the religion that cared most. The communion of Mass ,encourages us to commune with each other.
