I met a travelling man once.He was annoyed by a neighbour. You know,he said, "That fella ,is like a man standing on the top of a mountain ,and he never saw nothing". I climbed two mountains in my life ....The Sugar loaf in Wicklow, and Carrintoughall ,in Kerry, and I still remember the wonder views.I think, that Jesus is always encouraging us to see the wonder of people, beginning with oneself, and God gives us the blessing of seeing ,not just with the naked eye of the mind ,but also with His Spirit in our hearts. The mind makes thought, the spirit sees wonder and compassion. The wonderland is all around.Often,we are like the little fish in the ocean, asking, when am I going into the big ocean.Jesus says ,that wonder is here, now, Ask to see,.God tells , of the wonder of our being and existence, the wonder of the world all around us ,on loan, sharing our human family, the wonder of friends, the wonder of dance, song, invention, the wonder of seeing others helped and rescued, the wonder of our ability to make others feel good. Some saint said that we need only one word, one prayer in life ..the word is Thanks. Speaking of Heaven ,Michael Maine says that God will only ask ...Did you enjoy my creation. Liam Hickey, St.Ciarans, Hartstown, Dublin 15. |
