Louise  de  Marillac

Louise  de  Marillac  - France - 17th  Century

She was married and busy, widowed and worried about her son, Michael. She became the angel, with a human face for the poor, on the streets of Paris. Under the inspiration of St. Vincent de Paul, she left the world the legacy of the Daughters of Charity.

Their dress was that of the peasant women of France. Their work was, wherever there was human need and suffering, among children, the aged, the infirm, people with intellectual disability. Her prayer was ...love the poor, honour them as you would Christ Himself.
